It's Monday! What are you reading? -- 2/22

This is a meme hosted by One Persons Journey Through a World of Books.

Over the weekend I finished Smashcut by Sandra Brown, which I really enjoyed. I am hoping to post a review later today. For the library book club, I am reading Powers by John B. Olson, which is quite the abnormal read for our contemporary literature book group. Finally, I started The End of Overeating by David A. Kessler. It is a very interesting book about how and why people struggle with food on a daily basis. I know that I do, so it is making for an intriguing read! I am also preparing for Barney's Online Book Club meeting on Sunday. We will be discussing Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and all are welcome to join us.

What are you reading?

Well, of the books you've mentioned, I've only read The Hunger Games. It was definitely an interesting book, and there's plenty of fodder for a great book discussion.

The End of Overeating looks like an interesting book. We have that one at my library. I have heard mixed reviews of Powers. Some people like it and others thought it was weird. I hope your book club will have a good discussion of it.

The Hunger Games is one of my favorite books along with its sequel, Catching Fire.

I hope you enjoy your reading this week!

Alissa -- Hunger Games was a great book and I am really looking forward to the discussion. All are welcome on Sunday, I hope you'll consider joining us.

Christina -- Powers is a tough read for me. I enjoy supernatural stories, but this is just over the top for me.

I've never heard of Powers. It sounds interesting. How is it over the top? And what kind of supernatural?

Jo -- I am less than 50 pages into so I am not really sure what the supernatural issue is. So far one of the characters seems to have some type of sense and another is some type of prophet. There is The Badness which the bad guys(obviously. It's just a lot of description (2 pages to get her to run through the woods, enough already!)and not enough explanation of what is going on.

I have yet to read Sandra Brown. The books always look good like this one so I dont know what the hold up is!

Hunger Games is being discussed when on Barneys? I would love to be in on that discussion!

I think I probably need The End of Overeating. Might have to make a library trip to check it out.

I'm reading Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger. I loved the Time Traveler's Wife - this one is good, but I don't like it as much. The characters are all really strange and hard to relate to - it's saying something when the most normal character in a book is the one who is mentally ill (Martin has severe OCD)!

Can't wait for the Hunger Games discussion - I'll be away this weekend but will at least pop in on Monday morning! It was one of my favorite books last year.
