My Favorite Reads -- 6/24

This meme is hosted by Alyce over at At Home With Books.

My Favorite Read this week is the fantastically funny The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz. Here is the Barnes and Noble description:

Meet Isabel "Izzy" Spellman, private investigator. This twenty-eight-year-old may have a checkered past littered with romantic mistakes, excessive drinking, and creative vandalism; she may be addicted to Get Smart reruns and prefer entering homes through windows rather than doors -- but the upshot is she's good at her job as a licensed private investigator with her family's firm, Spellman Investigations. Invading people's privacy comes naturally to Izzy. In fact, it comes naturally to all the Spellmans. If only they could leave their work at the office. To be a Spellman is to snoop on a Spellman; tail a Spellman; dig up dirt on, blackmail, and wiretap a Spellman.

It is a such a great book! I even gave it 5 stars in my review! What is your favorite read?

This looks like one that would stretch my reading a little bit. I don't usually read many stories about PI's, but when writing is good and funny at the same time the genre doesn't matter as much to me.

This book looks great, I'm going to go read your review next. I love books with witty protagonists.

One of my all time favorite books is Losing Julia by Jonathan Hull. Sort of an obscure book, its about an old guy in a nursing home and it goes back and forth between present day and his time in WWI. The guy has only written a couple of books, but I absolutely LOVE his first one.

This sounds like a really fun book to read, it sounds something like Janet Evanovich's crazy lady detective, Stephanie Plum. I think I will have to put this one on my books to read list.

Ha! This sounds funny. I'm not a mystery fan, per se, but I think I might like the shenanigans and family intrigue. Nice choice!

If you want, you can check out my pick this week here.
