One of my favorite sci-fi authors (Sharon Lee) has declared June 23rd Fantasy and Science Fiction Writers Day.
As she puts it:
So! In my Official Capacity as a writer of science fiction and fantasy, I hereby proclaim June 23 Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Day! A day of celebration and wonder! A day for all of us readers of science fiction and fantasy to reach out and say thank you to our favorite writers. A day, perhaps, to blog about our favorite sf/f writers. A day to reflect upon how written science fiction and fantasy has changed your life.
So … what might you do on the 23rd to celebrate? Do you even read fantasy/sci-fi? Why? Why not?
I read a ton of fantasy books. I just recently started Neil Gaiman's Sandman series and am really enjoying it. Some other new favorites are the Wicked Lovely series by Melissa Marr, the Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris, and the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. I would love to celebrate the day by posting a fantasy book review or just talking about my favorite fantasy books.
How about you? (Want to play along? Go to Booking Through Thursday.)
Later today I will have my 100th post! It will be a giveaway, so come back and check it out!

I enjoyed reading your post. I liked your idea of posting a review on the 23rd. I have not read the vamphire books you have listed but i will certainly check them out. Thanx
I've been seeing lots of comments lately on the Southern Vampire series. I'll have to check it out. I'm not sure if you've read Christopher Moore - Bloodsucking Friends and You Suck are really funny Vampire books. I've mentioned a few others in my BTT.
Wow, you really know your fantasy/sci fi stuff! I don't read that genre, but I've been wanting to read some Neil Gaiman. I'm glad you're excited about this event and I'll come back to see what book you're going to review on the 23rd. Have fun!
I'm going to have a discussion in my forum. Here is mine
My husband keeps trying to get me to read Gaiman. One of these days!
I am definitely a fantasy fan rather than sci fi. I am just about to start the Melissa Marr trilogy. Can't wait.
I really want to read more Neil Gaiman - he seems to be a favorite with just about everyone. The only thing of his I've read is "Coraline," and I enjoyed that one.
I haven't read any Neil Gaiman yet. I really should start! Graveyard Book and Coraline both look quite interesting, so...
I enjoyed the first book in the Sookie series and I have the rest of the books to read.
I have seen Neil Gaiman on a lot of posts this week. Will have to look out for it.
I'm not a fantasy reader though I do like anything vampire, I must admit - usuallt more in the horror genre.
