It's Monday! What are you reading? -- 7/12

This meme is hosted by Book Journey.

Happy Monday! Why am I so excited? Because yesterday I finished my book club's selection before tomorrow's meeting! YEA!!! And the book was GOOD. Really, really GOOD. What was it? The book was The Angel's Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. If you enjoy plot driven books with a lot of mystery and a little supernatural element, then definitely check out this book.

Now that I am ready for book club, I am going back to reading The Passage by Justin Cronin (about 300 pages in). I received a few emails from other bloggers telling me not to give up on this chunkster, so I am going to take their advice and give it another week. No promises after that! I also started This Must Be the Place by Kate Racculia and so far am very intrigued.

What are you reading this week?

Wow!! How many pages is The Passage?!?!?! I've heard it's really good, but it sounds like 300 isn't even half-way. *just checked* Almost 800 pages!!! Holy smokes! I shall leave that read for another day, maybe MY Summer holidays.

Check out my post, and feel free to enter my contest.

Cass -- Yep, 800 pages. But all the bloggers that have been emailing me are saying it is fantastic. How can I stop now?

Nancy -- I didn't know that The Angel's Game was part of a series!?! That is exciting news. Thanks!

Rebecca -- That is too bad about your book club. You should consider joining an online book club. They are not as fun as face-to-face book clubs, but it's great to be able to discuss the same book with a group in any forum.

Thanks for the comments!

Hmm, you're reading some great books! I'm planning to read the Zafon book (but it's not high on my list yet) and also The Passage. Sounds really good!

I have The Passage but can't bring myself to read it yet because of its size. I don't know when size was a deterrent, but lately that seems to be the case. (sigh!) I also didn't know The Angel's Game was part of a series. That's good to know.

Have a great reading week!

The Passage is a very good book providing you are into the post-apocalyptic fiction with vampires and such. I loved it because this happens to be one of my favorite genres but I know that some people didn't love it so much.
I'm liking This Must be the Place a lot, I think it's quite funny and the writing is really good.
Happy Reading!

Good luck with The Passage...I will be the only person on the planet NOT to read it.

So glad you enjoyed the Zafon. I've only read 'Shadow of the Wind' and it was absolutely gorgeous. I've flagged 'Angel's Game' to follow up with this author.

I'm curious about Cronin. 800 pages?!? You're a brave one. Have a great reading week! Thanks for stopping by.

YEA for finishing the book club book. I need to get back to The Passage as well, though I'm not as far into it as you are. I do want to read it.

I'm off to check out The Angel's Game - that sounds good.

I am making my way through the audio version on Passage and there are times I like it and other times confused - I was glad to hear that people told you not to give up - that inspires me too :)

Have a wonderful week!

Blimey, I don't think I could make it through an 800 page book!

I'm impressed that you're sticking with The Passage! I'm such a slow reader, I know it would probably take me most of the year to struggle through it. But everyone says it's a great read.

Hope you enjoy all your reading this week!

I've heard amazing things about The Passage - over and over. It's been compared to The Stand which I consider one of the best books ever written.

Do you listen to the podcast of Books on the Nightstand? It's awesome! The hosts are big fans of The Passage. i think I'm putting it on my birthday list for next week (my husband always waits until the last minute anyway).
